A view on all pertinent aspects of investing in Costa Rica real estate.

Because Costa Rica one of the most beautiful countries in the world, and because it’s renown for having the best climate, low cost of living, a burgeoning middle class, great health care and education, it stands to reason that the people are content and generally very friendly. In fact, several times in the last decade, Costa Rica has been voted in the top 10 of "the happiest people in the world" in an independent survey. In 2012, they landed the top spot. It’s for that reason, and for reasons stated below, that Costa Rica has become a very desirable and sought after location for international investment and relocation.

A Stable Democracy:

Costa Rica is the only Latin American country in the list of The World’s 22 Oldest Democracies and the World Bank have expressed how encouraged they are by Costa Rica’s economic and political stability… “Costa Rica is one of the most stable and robust democracies, with a healthy economic growth rate”. Further siting that Costa Rica’s achievements in the past few years are giving out “some of the best social indicators”.

Education:

The education system in Costa Rica is exceptional and produces graduates in a wide range of professions annually. A great deal of the country’s budget goes to education and it shows.

Health Care:

The Costa Rica health care system is both affordable and top notch. It ranks among the best health care systems in the world with many US and European trained doctors who are bilingual.

Deregulation:

Costa Rica is gradually deregulating monopolies making more attractive for investment. Investing in Costa Rica continues to get easier.

Infrastructure:

Costa Rica’s solid commitment to attracting business and tourists is very evident when you see the vast improvements in highways, bridges, communications and airports in recent years. And they continue to keep these and many more infrastructure and service items that impact us daily, up to date.

Safety:

Violent crime is prevalent in many Latin American countries, and it’s mostly to do with drug gangs and cartels posturing for territory with shootings and kidnappings reported regularly. That is NOT the case here as Costa Rica is one of the safest countries to relocate to in Latin America, by far.

Vacation Homes:

The very timely combination of lower pricing and rising tourism has made purchasing a vacation home in Costa Rica very popular. Many purchase a beach home or condo, and rent it as a vacation rental while they’re not here, recouping their costs and putting a little extra in their pocket.

Development Property:

Tourist destination projects have been on hold for some years due to the impact of the world economy. This has resulted in development land values dropping to all time lows. Agriculture:

Teak has been a very popular commodity in Costa Rica for a long long time now. There are a multitude of plantations all over the country with trees of various thickness and age and have attracted buyers world wide.
